This is so sweet! My dog is getting older, too, and it's really hard to consider the prospect of life without her. But instead of being sad knowing that she'll be gone one day, I try to just appreciate being with her now.
Pets may have short lifespans, but its our job to make sure they're as full and love-filled as possible. <3
Thank you so much for this comic, I really needed to see it!
What a beautiful tribute to Winston! You were clearly meant to find each other and are both so lucky to have had each other through it all.
You perfectly captured the experience of caring for an aging pet who's been your partner through your adult life. I was adopted by my cat Oliver when I was 21 (he was 2-3 weeks old and screamed under my parent's deck for two days until we managed to drag him out). He'll be 18 in four day and has had kidney disease for the past two years. There are so many days I watch him sleep to make sure he's still breathing. It's hard to imagine my life without him, since so much of it has been with him. He's doing great, given everything, but I still worry constantly. It's nice to know I'm not alone in that. Thank you.
Janis Ian wrote today about the loss of her beloved dog. She ended thus: If love could have saved her, she would have lived forever. True words, I think, for all our dogs. Wishing you good health, Winston.
Oh I’m overtired and this one got me choked up at work a little! My cat is 16 and I tell her she’s gotta live forever all the time 🥲 She is also constantly tricking us into more treats lol.
I just found out our kitty isn't long for this world so this comic couldn't have come at a better time. I know she's just an animal but she's been a constant in my life for so many years and such a source of comfort and understanding. Sending love to you both as we start looking towards the end <3
This was so sweet & touching. I had a dog with doggy dementia once. He would wander the house at night and get lost. Poor little guy. We finally had to keep him in the bedroom with us and close the door to prevent him from wandering.
I hope you and Winston have many more happy years together.
This is so cute and so relatable!!! My cat has been with me for 18 years, we went through our teen ages together and grew up as adults together, and she's now the grandma of the house 💕
I am very happy for you and Winston and for all the little companions that find a family and a safe home full of love and care 🥹
We put my childhood dog down in September. He got sick pretty quickly over last spring and summer and it was sad but he was in a lot of pain and it was what was best for him 🥲 it looks like he was similar looking to Winston—just a cute little guy. Thanks for sharing this relatable story; dogs always show us the best parts of life!
I love when pets find their owners. I'm not a huge pet person but I always love stories like these. Also, I'm more of a cat person 😸 Anyway, this is a beautiful tribute to Winston

"I'm the one who changed." This was true for me as well.

What a good boi!!! This brought me so much joy today. Thank you thank you thank you!!!
I was similar with my cat. We got her when I was 4 and she died when I was 22
Aw, what a total sweetheart X"3
Love your drawings
I'm always amazed at how scary it is, and how beautiful it is, sometimes, to build something together with another being like this.
(I shouldn't be catching up with all your latest posts like that, I'm on the verge of tears with each of them, I, wow)
