that panel where you're staring out into the darkness and all the little glowing, refracting lights off NYC is outstanding. Made me feel some kinda way. Thank you for sharing this little glimpse into your Nimona tour travels, and for sharing it so beautifully and emotionally.

Also you + Eugene is a very Gender experience and it delights me to think of you both existing in the same space, bonding. What a blessing upon us all ✨

So this is how it all started, huh?

It comes full circle.

Thank your for bringing up the memories of falling asleep while my parents hosted a dinner party. Some really fond childhood memories of living in a city

This reminded me of a fav poem of mine by Elizabeth Bishop called “Chemin de Fer”:

Alone on the railroad track

I walked with pounding heart.

The ties were too close together

or maybe too far apart.

The scenery was impoverished:

scrub-pine and oak; beyond

its mingled gray-green foliage

I saw the little pond

where the dirty old hermit lives,

lie like an old tear

holding onto its injuries

lucidly year after year.

The hermit shot off his shot-gun

and the tree by his cabin shook.

Over the pond went a ripple

The pet hen went chook-chook.

"Love should be put into action!"

screamed the old hermit.

Across the pond an echo

tried and tried to confirm it.

I live in NY and I'm so mad that I didn't get any chance to see you 😭

I have a love-hate relationship with NY. I think most of us who live here do 😅

Thanks Charlie. That thing about falling asleep as a kid at a party sent me back in time. Thank you. Its such a strong feeling of connection and separation. It feels safe. I’ve stashed it in my memory box of Important Feelings i use when reality gets wobbly. Its there along with the white arm chair i lived in for a year while doing dbt, my grandparents formal sitting room, where time didnt exist and i drowsily watch dust motes dance in the sub, sitting in a chair so big its a throne to my childself, and the concept of the book The Happy Islands beyond the Wind.

As an implant, but one whose American home (home for over 13 years now) has always been NY, this post makes me super happy and emotional. It's also really beautifully drawn.

LAZ !! I THINK THE NEXT EPISODE DROPPED ON HULU THIS MORNING THANKS FOR THE REMINDER

Have you read Fatal Forecast? 2/3 NOAA bouys used to make weather predictions were inoperable and they were like yeah it’s gonna be a great weekend. Bunch of commercial trawlers and LOBSTAHMEN go out to the Grand Banks and SURPRISE there’s a big storm, but it’s filled with TONS of sea disaster facts and really goes into the natural history of the area that made it so dangerous.
