That one time you just casually came out as trans as a kid and then promptly forgot about it…kind of a mood 😭 I’m pretty sure I once said something similar along the lines of “but why are there only girls and boys, why can’t I just be something else?” I can’t prove that this happened, but it feels likely. Thank goodness for old friends who can remember these little gems for us 💖
I quite vividly remember asking a friend what she'd do if she ever could switch her sex at will. And mentioned I'd switch mine at least once to know how it was. I also vividly remmeber thinking "I wish I were a girl" around the same time, in high school, but never telling anyone, and only realising what those thoughts meant 6 years later
same experience, I knew I wanted to be a girl at 16 (and apparently at 4 but I forgot) but didn't transition until I was 27. took until societal acceptance hit a critical mass before I could even think about it
A couple years ago I came across some old emails between me and a friend - lifelong, from my homeschool days 😅 - in which I was joking about growing a beard (I joked a _lot_ in high school about wanting facial hair), and they responded, "If you grow a beard, we'll have to call you [masculine form of given name]!" Well, guess who's grown a beard now! And guess how I decided what my legal name would be 😂
omg I "joked" so much about having a beard... I was always talking about all the crazy stuff I would do to my facial hair 👀 now I'm too lazy and scared to change anything
Feels! Did you know it was an option at the time? I ran around telling everyone I wanted to be a girl and they were like - yeah sure kid, whatever
Was about 20 years later when I was like - oooooh I don't just have to wish this?

True! I thank that to increased trans visibility (and, at the time, increased acceptance) helping me realise I was trans.
