I changed my name during COVID, entirely by mail. I'm glad I had that flexibility, but also, your comic made me realize that I missed something. An opportunity to celebrate, or at least commemorate. I missed a lot of those.
So, your comic inspired me to throw a party for my name change (really, my whole coming out and transitioning, belatedly.) I'm going to invite all my friends, gather my community and show them who I am. (Even though everyone already knows!) But, it's good to acknowledge that I am worth celebrating.

yoooo congrats, my hearing was yesterday! I went in in mid November and as I was driving home I felt legitimized and happy in a way I wasn't expecting! I had a pretty good guess as to what was coming in those last panels haha
everyone knows you as Nate but now The Man knows you as Nate too! congrats again!

I changed my name last year at the age of 49 and due to COVID regulations still in place, it had to be over the phone with the judge. Fortunately, they did a rush job for me so I could get my license renewed and updated at the same time.
