This metaphor is so accurate even to actual physical wounds. I kind of love it.
I had internal bleeding as a toddler and have had to have a bunch of surgeries to fix all the weird things with my body- and obviously there are external scars from that that change you.
But the funny thing is my insides are all messed up as well.
Every once in a while i have to have ultrasounds to check how my insides are doing, just a routine thing really. But each time i go i learn new things about my body.
My gallbladder is on top of my liver when it should be under it. I have splenic appendices ( little broken off pieces of spleen just hanging around ). My kidneys aren’t lined up properly- one’s higher than the other. I have abdominal varices ( blood vessels close to the surface of your skin/lining of stomach etc. My liver is scarred and bumpy and the right lobe is twice the size of the other ( I know one is usually larger but apparently this bit is larger than usual).
So cheers to this working on so many levels- mind, body spirit the whole damn kit and kaboodle and what not. <3 our pain is not your pain but we can feel your pain in how you write <3
This reminds me of a guy in college that almost died in a horrific car crash a few years before we knew him (like the other car frame is inside of me bad). When they were stabilizing him they basically had to prioritize the really really bad injuries and they left a bunch of glass in his arms that his body healed around. So he still he has a bunch of glass shards embedded in him, he has to go in every so often and get them removed if they’re pressing against a nerve or blood vessel (or do it himself).
Pursuant to your points on shrapnel, what doesn’t kill you makes it harder to go through airport security
I love this so much. Seeing a new Nate comic in my inbox always brightens my day. Your words and images are always so thoughtful and resonate with me. ❤️
it’s these comics that made me want to write my own little comics and it’s helped me so much throughout my healing, i’m so thankful for your work ♥️
Sick. ⚔️❤️

So…this made me really emotional. Thank you ❤️
Oh-- I'm tearing up. I hope I can look back and feel the same about myself at some point, too.
Thank you for your poetry, as always. It really, really makes an impression, and a difference.
Right then. It's off to therapy for me.
Crying a lil at the office. We good
Sick indeed! 🗡️ >:)

🗡️(sick!)
I enjoy your little sprinkles of humor within your words and art.
Thank you for sharing, and positive vibes to your continued healing 🌻💜✨
It sounds like you're moving towards a happier place, I'm glad.
So true. That box of "to sort" is more of a storage unit my case... that you could get yours down to a box is an envyable acheivement.
AMAZING! Thank you for this.
I wish I could pull a sword from my abdomen when necessary.
💓🙏🏻🐌🥰🙃🫀
As always; I'll talk to my therapist about this. Thank you.
